Descrição do curso

The Sport Transparency Index Course offers a structured and in-depth learning experience for professionals working in sports management, governance, and administration. It is designed to guide participants through the key principles of transparency in sport and provide a clear framework for evaluating and improving organisational practices. At the core of the course are the 15 transparency indicators, which are used to assess performance across three main domains: organisational governance, operational practices, and financial transparency. Participants will gain a solid understanding of what transparency means in the sports context, why it is essential, and how it contributes to integrity, accountability, and long-term sustainability. The course begins with an introduction to the concept and importance of transparency in sport, including its key drivers, benefits, and the challenges organisations may face when implementing transparent practices. Learners will explore how transparency impacts stakeholders, including athletes, fans, governing bodies, and the wider community. Building on this foundation, the programme provides a detailed analysis of the three core domains:
  • Organisational and governance transparency, including board structures, codes of conduct, general assemblies, and membership policies
  • Operational transparency, covering areas such as equal opportunities, data protection, whistleblowing mechanisms, stakeholder engagement, and health policies (including anti-doping)
  • Financial transparency, focusing on financial disclosure, procurement processes, and anti-corruption measures
Participants will also learn how to apply the 15 indicators in practice, using real-world examples and case studies to evaluate their own organisations and identify areas for improvement. The course includes guidance on developing internal policies, improving reporting systems, and fostering a culture of openness and ethical behaviour. In addition, the course explores emerging trends in sports governance, such as the role of digital technologies, evolving governance models, and increased stakeholder engagement in promoting transparency and accountability. By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to:
  • Assess their organisation’s transparency performance
  • Implement effective governance and compliance strategies
  • Strengthen trust and credibility within the sports ecosystem
  • Promote ethical, sustainable, and accountable sports management practices
