Cross-cultural Training Programme for Sport Coaches

This course explores cross-cultural sports leadership, examining how culture influences coaching practices and interactions with athletes and stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds. Coaches will gain insights into key cultural concepts, enhance their Cultural Intelligence (CQ), and develop strategies for effective cross-cultural leadership and communication. By combining theory with practice, the module equips coaches with the knowledge and skills to manage multicultural teams and promote an inclusive environment.

Course description

This course is part of a doctoral research project and will be delivered in a blended format, incorporating both online (asynchronous) and in-person (synchronous) learning. Most of the course content will be available online, allowing learners to access and complete it at their own pace. After completing the online sessions, a workshop will be conducted by the instructor (Urgun), either in person at London South Bank University (UK) or online in real time, giving learners the opportunity to choose the date that best suits their availability.
Please note that a networking event will follow the in-person sessions at London South Bank University on Wednesday, 23 April, and Saturday, 26 April 2025.
