Rui Miguel Fernandes Pereira da Silva, Ph.D. from the University of Vigo in Education, Health and Sport, Pontevedra. Master in Sports Training from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC) – School of Sports and Leisure (ESDL), Melgaço. Graduate in Physical Education and Sport from the Fafe Institute of Higher Studies (IESF) – Higher School of Education (ESE). Currently working as an assistant professor (Exercise Physiology) at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo – School of Sports and Leisure. Is a scientific researcher since 2019. The main research topics are performance assessment and monitoring in different sports (team-based and individual-based sports) in young and adult high-performance athletes. Recently, started scientific production in children’s motor competence assessment. Is the co-author of the book “Assess to Train: A practical guide to the assessment and monitoring of training for the coach” (Original Portuguese title: Avaliar para Treinar: Um guia prático de avaliação e controlo do treino para o treinador), published by the Portuguese publisher PrimeBooks. To date, he has more than 40 articles published in JCR (WoK) indexed journals with impact factor and has participated in five books on training methodology, assessment, and monitoring. Developed practical skills in sports training in Swimming and Football. Developed skills in periodic assessment and monitoring practices, including GPS data analysis. Also, has experience in physical rehabilitation. To this date, is an assistant member at the Research Center in Sports Performance, Recreation, Innovation and Technology – SPRINT.
