Sport Diplomacy Diploma
This course examines the intersection of sport and international diplomacy, exploring how sport serves as a powerful tool for fostering cross-cultural dialogue, shaping national identity, and influencing global politics. Students will analyze the role of sport in peacebuilding, public diplomacy, and soft power initiatives, with case studies ranging from Olympic diplomacy and international mega-events to grassroots sport-for-development programs. The course will also address issues of nationalism, global governance, athlete activism, and the politicization of sport in conflict and cooperation. Through critical discussion, research, and real-world examples, students will gain a deeper understanding of how sport can both bridge and reinforce geopolitical divides in a rapidly changing world.
